Do rear seats fold flat or not?

As subject says.

Went to my dealer and he said seats don't fold flat but youtube video shows they do...

The salesman hasn't tried very hard.

If you just fold down the seat back... No, they don't fold flat.

If you take the head rest off, fold the seat bottom forward and THEN fold the seat back down, yes. Flat, or pretty darn near flat. However, the front seat can't be all the back to get the back seat bottom folded up. Me being pretty tall, 6'5", I'm not comfortable with the front seat that far forward. But it'll do in a pinch for a ride home from the store with something big.

if you have the 60/40 split rear seat, it will fold flat. you need to lift the bottom up (it flips forward) and take out the headrest. then the rear seat will fold flat. seems a lot of sales people don't know this. no one at the dealership i bought mine from knew about this until i showed them. still didn't get me any discount.

my sales guy told me ford hasn't given them very much training on the vehicle's capabilities. at least not his dealership, in the sticks, maybe ones in larger cities got a better tour.

actually he's a friend of mine. so don't knock him. :P none of the sales guys knew about this. he told me they got some 1hr demo of the cars last year from ford and some bare-bones materials since. apparently nothing mentioned this, or it's just a one-line blurb.

MY '04 Mazda Tribute's seats folded the same way, and it was a rebadged Escape.

It depends on the car. S and SE sedans don't have a fold-flat rear seat; SEL/Titanium sedans and all 3 hatch trim levels do.
